Does changing the file info of a song in iTunes change the actual ID3 tag of the file itself, or does it just change the song's info in the iTunes Library file?

I'm just curious because i lost info on one of my iTunes libraries and had to make a new one, and was wondering if all the tagging i had done is now lost.

-yeah, i could go through and look myself, but at one point I stopped using iTunes to retag and started using iEatBrainz, so I don't want to scrutinize all my tags that closely if somebody knows the quick answer.

Thanks!

It should change the ID3 tag info itself. The iTunes Music Library file is used for storing playlists, playcounts, and stuf like that.

yeah, it edits the actual file. The playlist in iTunes is just representative of the actual file's id3 tag.
