iPod touch itunes thinking my ipod is in recovery mode(well, sorta recovert mode)?

whenever i plug in my ipod into my comp, itunes says set up your ipod. an ipod has been previously synced with this computer. then it gives me the options to set up as a new ipod or restore from the backup of: ipod
my ipod has been working fine, and was connecting to itunes fine earlier today (only like 15mins ago). any idea what to do?

hmm, i tried rebooting my ipod and comp, but it was still doing it. i tried selecting set up as new ipod, and it went just like when i first bought the ipod, and asked me what i wanted to name my ipod, so i just put in a name, then hit continue, and it went back to normal and all my songs were still there, my settings were the same, and everything was fine.
