iPod iTunes to iPod Copy for widescreen

I understand that iTunes will not copy h.264 files over 640x480 to the iPod, but what about widescreen movies?
I want to encode a 16x9 movie with the resolution of 704x400, will that copy to iPod?
Is there a rule for figuring out max size?

That article was written before the iTunes 7 Update.

It now supports much higher resolutions than what is listed.

Well it probably works in a similar way, try some short clips and see, anyway, unless you have a HD set any higher resolution won't make any difference.
