iTunes to new Mac

I just bought an iMac yesterday and it's my first Mac. I am trying to get my iTunes library from my PC (XP) to the new Mac and am having some issues. I copied my entire "My Music" folder from my PC to an external HD and then copied that folder into the music folder on my Mac. I then opened iTunes and I told it to use the library I had saved over. It dumped all my music, apps, and playlists so I thought I was good to go. However, none of the music files will play and it says it can't locate the file. What did I do wrong? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Couldn't you just back up your library to dvd, and then do a restore on the new system?
