I purchased an iPad for my mother this week while she was visiting and we set it up on my computer - everything worked fine and she purchased a number of applications. She loves it!
When she returned home I worked with her to transfer to an new iTunes install on her computer. Closely following this article:

We installed itunes and authorized it with her user name and pasword. Then we attached the iPad to her computer. iTunes did find her ipad and displayed it but she did not get a dialog asking if she wanted to transfer the applications...
On the menu I had her go to File -> transfer purchases and the system asked her to authorize the computer. She inputted her username and password and gets the feedback that the computer is authorized 2 out 5.
She selects transfer again and once again the system asks her to authorize the computer - this seems to be an infinate loop.
i went to apple support and found this article and ultimately deleted the SC folder but of course no joy:

We have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled itunes, we have unathorized the computer and reauthorized the computer we have rebooted more times than I can count.
OK! Any thoughts!
