I clicked on the iTunes icon and it changed the icon to a generic folder and the name changed to "TunesApp". It does nothing but open a generic folder. I can't find it in the finder either. Any ideas as to what's happened and how to fix it?

Thanks.

Did you click on the icon on the dock or in the applications folder?

Sounds like your iTunes application got corrupted somehow. Easiest way to fix that is to restore the app from a backup
