iTunes update; new music does not show in music tab

Just updated iTunes to 10.4. If I drag music onto iTunes, it creates a playlist for it. But if I go to the music tab (library), the music does not show up. I then have to select the music from the playlist and 'copy' it to the music tab (library). WTF?
