itunes upgrade

I have just upgraded my iTunes and my old itunes app. is still noted separately in my applications folder.
How do i get rid of the old version without losing all my music.
I also noticed the itunes store asks for credit card details just to sign up. Are there any hidden fees or anything?

You can delete the old version just make sure your music library folder does not get deleted, iTunes is free you only need a credit card for iTunes Music Store.
