As a newbie I see there is an update for itunes in software update but I have read that some people have had problems after downloading it. I've been hesitant to download it because of it. Is there any way to revert back to the older version if I download 8.1.1 and then have problems?
Thanks for a reply

Sure. Just copy the application to a new location prior to installation.

I was under the impression that it's not that simple. Wouldn't iTunes give you the "library created by a later version" error? How do you get around that?

Cheers.

Hmm, I hadn't considered that. I'm not sure that that would happen with a revision (8.1.x) update, but it wouldn't hurt to make a backup of ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library and ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music Library.xml just to be safe.

I haven't had any problems with 8.1.1, though.

Okay thanks for the replies. I will download it and just keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well.
