iTunes video wackiness

I downloaded the latest iTunes to get fullscreen support, so I'm using that and I watch a video in iTunes and I tell it to go fullscreen and notice that Lion jumps all the way down to my open desktop to display the video. When I exit the video, instead of being back in fullscreen iTunes, I'm at a blank desktop. Bug or by design?
