I noticed something weird today. I was importing a cd into iTunes while also running the built-in visualizer (playing music from my library). I was only getting about 12-17 fps at the time, then, for some reason, I held down the shift key for a few seconds. Instantly the visualizer frame rate sped up. It jumped to about 30-34 fps. It works with any key (I haven't tested EVERY key) whether or not iTunes is the active app, and as soon as you let go of the key, it goes back to its former speed. Surprisingly (and usefully), it works as you would want it to with the caps lock key. Whenever the caps lock is on, the frame rate is faster. It's pretty crazy.
Does this work for anyone else? You'll probably need to press the "f" key once in the visualizer to see the fps and also be importing a CD, either because importing slows it down enough for this to work, or the bug is specific to importing and running the visualizer at the same time. It doesn't seem to have an effect running at normal speed -- maybe because there's a cap at 60 fps? I can't tell, but it never runs above 60 fps for me.
