I noticed after I downloaded iTunes 4.5 that the volume settings I usually used with 4.2 had to be upped quite a bit so I could hear the music. Anyone else have this happen?

Yeah, that has happened to a lot of people. It was discussed in another thread at length, but here is a synopsis:

It has to do with the fact that iTunes now uses a log scale for the volume control. So while the 0% and 100% volume levels are exactly the same, the position of the slider within the range might be different because the scale is no longer linear - this should allow for greater control of lower volumes.
