iPhone 6, iOS8, iTunes 12.1, Yosemite on a Core i7 iMac 27" (Late 2012).
I stopped syncing this iPhone over the air with iCloud / iTunes Match and decided to go back to local backups / music syncing because iTunes match was causing more harm than good. The first time I disabled Match on iMac & iPhone and did a local sync via Lightning cable, "Waiting for Changes to be Applied" remained for 8 hours. I have since fully restored my iMac from Time Machine Backup, reinstalled iTunes, restored my iPhone from backup and still this status remains for many hours.
The only thing I can think of is throwing away my iTunes Library and reimporting all music and setting up Podcasts & re-doing all of my playlists. I'd lose my song counts and other things. Could I enable iTunes Match then throw everything away? That would at least save music data like star ratings, play counts, playlists and then just re-import movies, TVshows.
Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can take to sync my iPhone locally?
