iTunes Will NOT add my music to library.

This is the first time this has happened. So here are the details:

I try to add music by going: File > Add Folder to Library
Nothing happens no music added to library

I try to add music by going: File > Add File to Library
Nothing happens no music added to library

I try moving it into the specified iTunes folder and trying both above methods:
Nothing happens no music added to library

I try renaming the file and trying all methods above and the same thing happens!

These files will import to windows media player no problem at all! They are all .mp3 files no DRM ripped from the cd! I do not understand why this is happening suddenly (Fresh format everything was working fine with itunes before format but now it won't add any music to itunes) I googled it and I was led here! Please help me I'm frustrated! I tried everything on the topic that came up on google and nothing worked! If I cannot get this to work well I have to sell my iPod and get something else that works... Ugh.
 
When I try to drag and drop it puts a little circle with a cross mark over my mouse cursor. I'm running windows XP :) btw
