IS it possiable to manage your iPhone and iPod classic together on the same PC using one copy of iTunes? Thing is I want some sort of library for each device as the iPhone is 16GB and classic 80GB so I guess I would need X2 library for this?

What do you mean by different library for each device? You can have different playlist sets sync'd to any number of iPod devices as you want.

Say on my iPhone, I have a smart list with 2000 of my most recently played songs while my now unused Classic used to simply store everything. You choose which playlists/items to copy over when you click on the iPod under 'Devices' in the left column in iTunes.

Ah ok, so I will just use various playlists to sort out what goes on the classic and what goes on the iPhone then. Ive never used playlists before, so didnt even think about that. Thanks.

Will you have to go into playlists on the classic to listen to your music-can you still use coverflow with playlists?

What do you mean by smart playlists?
