I've read through all the previous posts that came up in my search, but I didn't find anything that exactly matched or resolved this situation. Other's problems seem to be caused by corrupted files.
I have a folder containing all the albums for a particular band that I had recently moved from a previous system. I added this folder to iTunes 9 (64-bit, Windows 7). After entering the band name into iTunes, only one of the albums showed up, the rest of the music was missing from iTunes.
When I navigated directly to the other albums via Explorer, and selected a song to play, it plays just fine in iTunes, but iTunes still refuses to add it to the library.
The files are verified MP3 format, @ 320 kbps. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this situation, where the files are fine, iTunes will play them, but refuses to add them to the library.
Thanks.
*edit* I have also reverted to iTunes 8.2.1 in case it was an issue with version 9.
