I converted a .flac file to a .wav file in order to import it into iTunes but it still doesn't work. What can I do to fix it?

iTunes doesn't support either .FLAC or .WAV.

It needs to be either AAC, MP3, AIFF or Apple Lossless (ALAC) format.

WAV is basically the same as AIFF. Don't see why it won't convert.

However I would do Mp4 (AAC) for better quality.

Problem solved!

I just deleted the .flac files... I thought it wouldn't matter, but it did. Thanks anyway!

You can also use EAC to convert wav to mp3. This also allows you to use the LAME codec, if you're especially interested in quality.
