I've put my iTunes library on a portable hard drive so I can listen to my music at work and at home. iTunes has no problem reading the library from the drive when it's connected to my iMac at home.
However, when trying to use it at work, iTunes reads the library file (as in, it has the full list of songs and playlists are correct) but it always asks me to find a file when I try and play a song.
So I find the file, then it asks if I want to use the location of that file to find the rest of the songs in my library. I click "yes" and it begins to play the song I first found, but the program locks up and I can't control anything and there is no progress bar. The time in the scrubber even remains at 0:00 while that song plays, and I can't click any buttons or any menus. Suffices to say, it never finds the rest of the songs because I always have to quit.
I've even left it open in the background in hopes that it will finally unlock, but it never does. I have attempted this probably five or six times now.

Anyone know what's up? I don't think this happened before Lion, but I'm not sure.
