iTunes Won't Give Me a Firmware Prompt...

In order to install software I have been told to:

In iTunes, hold down the Command key on the keyboard and click Restore in iTunes with your mouse. It will ask for firmware file.

But when I do this, I am not given that prompt. It just starts restoring.

Help! I'm such a newbie!
