itunes wont let me restore iphone!

ahhh please help, my iphone is stuck at the apple screen so i need to restore, however when i plug into my mac, itunes reconises its plugged in and starts to sync even tho the iphone is still at startup screen.
i tried to restore iphone but itunes says the software isnt up o date. i then try to update but apprently have latest version!!!

now my mac wont even reconise the iphone. iphone is indicating that i plug it in, i have but itunes doesnt see it!

please please help
