iPod touch Itunes wont read the ipod touch 8gb!

Ok. So for Christmas i have received a ipod touch 8gb. I got chargers (3) one for the car one for the wall and one for the computer. The wall one does not work at all and the car works very well. The computer usb cord is my problem. When i plug it in to my mac it does not read it. It only charged it nothing else. I cant put songs on it or anything only charge it. What can i do to fix this. HELP PLEASE

Are you using a Windows Machine?

The first steps would be to restart your computer, if that doesn't helps, then re-install iTunes.

Hopefully that should work.

And i have both machines apple g3 and a windows.
