iTunes won't recognize CD-Rs

I've been having this problem for a while (a few months), but I never remember to bring it up anywhere.

It just happened again, so here I am.

iTunes stopped recognizing that I put a CD-R in. The Mac itself doesn't even realize it, as I usually see it on the desktop when it's recognized.

They are Memorex brand, and they used to work just fine on this same Mac.

DVDs work fine, so I'm thinking it's not a faulty drive...

Okay... I've been messing around with it... and I may have it figured out.

Was it an iTunes update that stopped blank CD-Rs from showing up on the left side?

When I click "Burn Disc" in a playlist, it initializes the burn even though the CD didn't show up. I guess I'm just not used to that.

However, shouldn't a blank CD-R show up on my desktop still?

Yes, This is silly, but you have to right click on your playlist, and then click burn playlist to disc. Even if you do not see your black CD-R, it will burn. You should see burn process on the Itunes bar at the top of your screen.
