itunes won't recognize the new ipad

I'm trying to connect my new ipad to itunes and it won't show up in itunes. Anybody know a good workaround? I googled some and they still didn't work. The ipad is listed in the windows c drive as a device and the drivers are all updated. It just won't show up in itunes.

Yeah I'm on 10.6.

I got it to work after many battles with itunes. I had to fully uninstall and delete everything associated with itunes then do a clean reinstall. This was a bitch to do and but I finally go the ipad to be recognized in itunes. This is the first time I've ever experienced this and I'm hoping it's the last.
