iTunes won't sync mail?

a few days ago I restored my iPod touch because I wanted to start with a clean slate. I tried to sync the mail from my mail.app but iTunes doesn't let me. It just says that iPod canceled the sync, but everything else syncs. The safari bookmarks, the music, everything syncs besides the mail...weird

i wonder if it's the ipod or iTunes being weird.
