Not sure if this has been covered somewhere and not really sure how to search for it

I moved all of my Music onto my iMac then reformatted the external HDD and moved everything back to the External and it duplicated all the files. Not sure why never happened to me before.

Any Ideas?

Did you "move" or "copy" the files?
And is the music duplicated in iTunes or just in Finder, where you could delete it easily?
And what iTunes version are you using?
And did you do this: iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder
or this: iTunes 10 for Mac: Consolidate your iTunes library?

Im using the latest version of iTunes, And i moved it over did not copy. I erased it from the internal HD. It looked like it made duplicates of all the folders and had a seperate iTunes folder with everything in it as well

Thanks for the links, Should have done the 1st one seems like it would have been easier
