I have an audiobook's tracks ripped from the CD's. I imported them into my iTunes12 library. I don't like the metadata as it appears, so I edit the TRACK titles to include Chapter Numbers.

I OPTION+drug the tracks out of iTunes to a desktop folder. Trashed the tracks in iTunes.

SURPRISE: iTunes adds track numbers to the TRACK NAMES (01-13 Name) in the desktop folder. Where did these invisible track numbers come from. Why is iTunes adding the track numbers to the track names drug out of iTunes?

This has never happened w other audiobook files or music. Why this audiobook? Has anyone seen this invisible behavior before?
