My wife and I both have Xs Max’s on the IUP. What would be easiest way to upgrade ours for Friday? Or would Apple’s trade in program be better route vs upgrade program? Thanks everyone!

As long as you have made 12 payments you can go through the Apple store app on your phone and get pre set up to upgrade at 5am pst on Friday. You have to pick your color, storage, and carrier info up front. You will get pre approved but you are not guaranteed your phone until you finish the process from the Apple Store app on your phone at 5am pst on Friday morning. I did this last year and it was the easiest experience I ever had pre ordering a iPhone on launch day. If you have not made your 12 payments you can still upgrade but would have to make pre make any payments that you have not made. Last year when i upgraded because the iPhone X's were so late to launch I was one payment short of my 12th payment so I had to pay an extra $64 or I could have just waited a month, but I didn't want to wait. This year I already made my 12 payment so it worked perfectly. I hope this helps.

Thank you very much! Am I able to upgrade my wife’s phone as well, or would I have to do that separately on her phone?

If both phones were done on the same account/user then you should get a pre approval on both.
If separate accounts were used to open the IUP, each person has to get a separate pre-approval.

Q: On a IUP, does the old phone belong to Apple like a leased phone ?
If so do you have to trade it in order to get the new 11 and start a new contract ??

It’s tied to the social security number used. You can actually get preapproval for any number of phones on the same phone/app/account (and even when using the same social for all or different socials for each). Simply go through the process for each phone number on the same phone and then it will keep a list of “preapprovals” at the top of the Apple store app. Check my screenshot and notice how it says “preapproved devices” ... I currently have two in there and will add a third later tonight.
