In the past, I’ve turned in my old phone at the Apple Store when I picked up my new phone on the iup. This year I have to ship the old phone in the return box because the new phone is being shipped to my house.

What if the company that processes the return of the old phone says it’s unacceptable for some reason, sends my old phone back to me, and they’ve made their decision after my 14 day return period? Am I stuck paying for two iPhones?

I’ve read some nightmare stories from a few about dealing with these IUP returns.

I always sent mine in by mail and never had a problem.

mim doing in store pick up this year but Cause of covid their is no in store trade in’s for any ones.

Because it’s iUP, I’d think it would go to apple warehouse. Apple will provide a shipping label for those.

Edit to add: In the past, I always done the in-store pick up so i always turned it in at the apple store.

The first time we used the IUP, we sent the phones back and and one phone never made it. Fedex lost it. It took a long time for us to get the credit for it including several calls to Apple where their support staff had no idea how to handle it. The year after that, we did in-store pick up to avoid having the phone lost. It took forever to transfer the data and you couldn't drop it off later. We went back to delivery and have been fine since.

From what I understand, another company contracts with Apple to process the trade. I’ve read of accounts where the company took a very long time to process the trade and where they’ve refused the trade for no good reason. Makes me nervous.

Same issue for me for the first time. Been sending those to Apple for few years, now Fedex "lost" 2 phones I sent last week back to Apple. Spent time with Fedex and Apple on the phone waiting for resolution. Seems like this is a bigger issue here of phones getting "lost". When someone recognizes the size of the box and that it goes to Apple, and that the device in it worth $700+ times hundred of boxes, you do the math...
