So I am on a payment plan with Verizon for my 11 pro Max. I am considering doing the IUP program. So if I go through Apple and the IUP can I just turn in my 11 pro Max to Verizon? Or pay it off and sell it. Not sure how this works or what to do

Where did you get your iPhone 11 from? If you got it from Verizon, you won't be able to return it to Apple as part of the iphone upgrade program. If you do the iphone upgrade program this year, then next year you'll be able to return your iphone 12 to apple and get the iphone 13

If you are starting the iUP as new, you still keep our 11 pro max, probably pay that off and sell it.

That's more of a Verizon question than a IUP question. You'd need to look up VZ's policy on terminating the program and/or paying it off early.

That's why carriers love it when you sign up for their EIP or lease (Next, Jump) - it's hard to get out unless you pay off the phone early.

I did just that with my TMO 24 month phone from last year - paid a lump sum (10 months) to be able to trade it in under the Apple's installment plan (Citizens One Loan or Apple Card).

So better to pay the max off and sell it (I owe 570) and buy one on the IUP plan or just go through Verizon. Not sure if there is any upside outside of not being tied to the carrier. One question is can you make multiple payments on a time with IUP. Just want to make sure the 12 payments are made before iPhone 13 comes out since this year is so late.

Typically when iPhone 13 is released next year and you are on 10th payment by then, it will charge you 2 month worth at check out.

Thank for the information. With the IUP program can you make multiple payments at a time if you’d like. Maybe not resulting in advancing the due date but just paying ahead?

Not entirely sure, I looked at my citizens one account, and no option to pay ahead. I've read that if you wanted to pay in full, you actually need to do it over the phone.

Ha I just got out of iUP and am using my  card for the monthly installments but plan on paying it off in full.

so is there an advantage of doing the IUP or getting an Apple Card?

Well the only advantage I see with iUP is just upgrading yearly with the added AppleCare Plus and trade in your phone yearly. Now if you use your Apple Card as a payment option for the iUP, you get the 3% cash back every month.

From an annual upgrade perspective almost seems it makes the most sense to go through my carrier (Verizon). Wish you could pay ahead on the IUP

Should I apply for the Apple Card right now? Wondering about the pros and cons of doing the preorder prep with the Apple Card (not applying) or applying now and getting that out of the way. Or if I select Apple Card monthly payments in advance will it qualify me now?

You would have to apply for the  card first and get approved but it’s pretty instantaneous so if you got approved before Friday you could do that.

The only con I can think of using the  card method instead of iUP is you don’t get that built in trade offer each year after making those 12 payments.
