FedEx delivered my Trade-In Kit this morning to my house while I was at work. This isn’t my first rodeo, this’ll be the third device I return to Apple as part of the iUP. The box is padded, contains a pouch for the old phone, and the shipping label is the back side of the FedEx delivery label on the box itself.

Unfortunately they left it on my exposed porch...in the rain...and it’s been raining all day. The box is a mushy mess and if the label is usable after it dries, I’ll be amazed.

Any ideas? Can I use my own box if needed, and have the FedEx store print a new outbound label? Request (somehow) a new kit from Apple - which could cause issues bumping up against the 14-day timeframe to send away the device?

Apple will send you a new one if you ask and it won’t be an issue against the days. My dad had a similar issue (box came ripped). You could also email them and get in writing that using your own box is fine.

Right now it’s drying in front of my AC. The box itself looks like it’ll be OK, and hopefully the preprinted return label dries fine too. Good to know the above though, if I need to reach out to them tomorrow!

If this helps....

I have the camera on the doorbell and someone stole my return box one year. Apple sent a new one in 2 days. Cant imagine the guys face when he opened an empty box though.

Can’t one tell from the weight? I guess if you’re stupid enough to steal, then no.

My trade in kit is late per FedEx. It was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday but it's stuck in transit. I spoke with Apple; they said if it doesn't come by Thursday to give them a call so they can send out another trade-in kit.

My trade-in box arrived an hour ago badly damaged. If my iPhone had been inside going back to Apple the upper right corner of the screen could have been cracked. Very poor packaging. I went to the Apple store and they were able to credit my Apple cc the trade-in amount. Glad I don’t have to deal with sending it in now.

Since I never done the online delivery for the iUP, but couldn't you use your own box to send the device in? Also, I'm sure Apple could just resend you the fedex label via e-mail could they not?

I know for any apple online order that are in-store pick up, you have two options. 1. return it in store or 2. Return it via sending it back via Fedex, which you can send the device back using your own box.

Apple sent me an email with a link to generate a label if I needed one. The standard email we all got. I didn’t need it, my box was perfect. I’m always afraid sending it in and it getting damaged in transit, the phone I sent is 100% flawless. I took some pics just to have.
