Yeah, I don't like cases myself, but I guess when you're Jony Ive you have enough money that dropping your phone and shattering it to bits isn't an issue.

And the cost of Apple Care on those iPhones would probably increase accordingly. Maybe they could bake a transparent rubber bumper directly into the phone's edges.
