iWeb's page format

Ok, this is bugging me about iweb. When the site is published, it leaves huge empty spaces on either side of the page template. I tried to go to page layout to change the width of the page, but it just makes it worst; now the contents are located to the right and huge gaps are left on the right of the browser window (see attached). Does anyone know how to fix this? Can the page display and fill the screen? Thanks
