Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but I was just curious, the older version of Keynote was over 1GB if I remember correctly, but the new version is just under 300MB, yet it has more themes and such. How is this possible?

afaik, they no longer have to have individual templates for every language, thus dramatically cutting down on the size.

The difference is due to the way graphics are accessed by the templates. In iWork '05 & '06 the various graphics in the templates existed in each language version. Now, the templates share resources. Since there are about 15 different language versions of the templates, that a lot of space saved.
