Hey all,
If we don't purchase iWork or Office 08... do we not have ANY type of word processor? Is it cheapest to buy it through apple.. or can we downlaod them elsewhere?

I use NeoOffice I also use Open Office on Ubuntu and there's a version of OSX as well. Both offer great compatibility with M$ office and the price is right (free).

A bit off topic, but is there any reason Mac users seem to prefer NeoOffice (based on the recommendations from different threads about it)? I always used OpenOffice under Windows/Linux, and I use it now as well. Does NeoOffice work better with Macs?

Does "any type of word processing" mean TextEdit counts as well? ;)

NeoOffice used to be far superior for some technical reason or another.

At this point, both NeoOffice and OpenOffice work great. I use OpenOffice.
