How to Mix Different Numbers of Columns in a Document?

In Microsoft Word I have the option to create a specific column for a selected portion of the text. But with Pages the whole page gets divided into columns, not just the area I want. Is there a way to create more than one group of columns in the same page using Pages?

You need to use Layout Breaks or Section Breaks (can't remember exactly which it's called or if they're both there). That will allow you to apply different styling to each section of your layout.
