iWork Retail VS iWork Mac AppStore

Is there any difference? I have the Retail box set?
iTunes Support team says I cannot transfer it into my account.
Therefore no updates for the retail set.

The only difference is that the applications are combined in the retail set versus individual in the Mac App Store. The functionality is identical.

The retail set will update automatically to the current versions via Software Update instead of the Mac App Store. The only other difference is licensing -- the retail set is licensed for a single computer (unless you purchased the Family Pack) and is transferable (in other words, you can sell it) while the Mac App Store applications can be installed on all the computers you control but is not transferable.
