iWorks free on Mac?

I recently bought the new iPhone 6S and got the iWorks apps for free with it.

I searched around a bit because I thought it'd mean I'd have them for free on my Mac too, but couldn't find an actual answer.
If I currently check the app store on my MBPR, I can't seem to be able to download them for free.

Are they only free for that 'type' of Device? Or can I get them free on my Mac too?

They were only free for people who bought a Late 2013 or newer Macs.

Follow the directions and you'll be good.
