Jaguar to Panther without paying?

I bought an eMac in August 2003, just before the Panther release. I'm still on Jaguar, and I was wondering if it's possible to get an upgrade to Panther for free, since it's ridiculous to hang out in 10.2.8. Is this possible or am I just being a doofus?
