iPod touch Jaibreaking from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 and iTunes 7.6?

OK, I just jailbroke my ipod touch (from 1.1.3 down to 1.1.1). However, after several failed attempts at upgrading to 1.1.2 I found an article that states that if you are using any iTunes ABOVE 7.5 (and I am using 7.6) you CANNOT upgrade?

So, my questions are:

A) Is there a way to upgrade (when I currently try to do so I get a screen asking my itouch to connect to itunes)?

B) What are the benefits of upgrading?
