iPod touch jaibroken ipods space questions

I see a lot of people have jailbroken their Ipods. The question I have is, do you still actually use it as an ipod and you listen to music? Also do the applications take up alot of space on the drive? Also if not jailbroken how much real capacity is there out of the box on a 16 GB Ipodtouch?

I forget the exact amount of capacity on a fresh 16GB iPod touch, but the applications take up minimal space. It really just depends on how many applications you install, I use maybe around 10MB.

actual capacity is 14.8 GB according to the ipod touch.

I still had over 14GB for music and such, but there only about 50 something MB available for apps.
