Wondering if i could get some advice

I have an Iphone 4 jailbroken on 4.3.3 with gevey sim serving as the unlock (My BB 04.12.01)

I contacted At&T regarding the unlocking and i got an email this morning saying that i am eligible and to follow the restore process.. Now... the phone works perfect and i afraid if i restore from itunes to get the unlock i will get the restore error and brick the perfectly wotking iphone!!

Anyone know what to expect? Only advantage of this is i get IOS5 which i have been reluctant to do via jailbreak as last time i made a mess of it and it took me weeks to figure out how to jailbreak again

If i try to restore from stock itunes will i have problems?

Thanks

Use Redsn0w or SAM to de-Activate the phone, reboot and hook up to iTunes to reactivate, unlock message should pop open.

Also if I don't want the jailbreak (only reason I have it was to hacktivate the iPhone) with the unlock I don't need it?

Anyone able to help? Did the deactivate, removed sim and got iTunes error please insert valid sim. Inserted sim and got sim is not valid...

No mention of 7 days. Just the standard message. Maybe I'll ring them again an see. By the way I'm in Ireland not USA but presume that doesn't affect it?

Thank you for contacting AT&T Customer Care about unlocking your iPhone.

We have reviewed your request and confirmed that you are eligible to have the requested iPhone unlocked.

To complete the unlock, simply:

1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have internet connectivity.
2. Connect your iPhone using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone.
3. Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes.
For information on backup and restore, please visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414.
4. After restoring, your iPhone will be unlocked

If I do that though will gevey sim work on iOS 5 and new baseband if the unlock hasn't gone thru? Also will I not get an error in iTunes as I'm currently jail broken?

Thx for the help by the way

Welcome.
No, the gevey wont work any more but if you're officially unlocked then you wont need it again.
And yes you can restore/update a JB iphone.
If still wont let you activate it with your sim I'd contact AT&T again and see if your unlock is entered in the database or still on hold for later.

Ok thanks. Will ring them an perhaps say I'm
Not seeing the unlock going through can they confirm it's processed for my IMEI. I am
Suspicious that there is no IMEI with the confirmation email. If they say it is I'll try restore from iTunes direct

Cheers

I didnt get my imei listed on the email either.
Its just a generic email that they send to everyone when they process their unlock I believe.

Just off the phone there with AT&T and apple. At&t cant see the case once its passed to apple Apple still see AT&T as carrier but it can take a week to update. Will ring bk in a week and if it's gone will do the restore. Cant risk losing the unlock obviously. Apple were extremely helpful actually. Even suggesting ways to get an iPhone 4 unlock online :).

Thanks, finally figured it out. For those who don't know. Go in to Cydia>Manage>Sources>Edit>Add --Type in repo.beingner.com than Cydia you will be able to install SAM and SAMPref.
