Jail broken iPad running when asleep

Ok, I'm new here and I've ran a search on this but found nothing, maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

I am using my ipad to run a messaging program and Skype over 3G. Now with the os update, I can run them in the background when it is on. I am using it as my phone, but i must leave my device on to receive calls or text. Can i jailbreak it and have them run while the device is in sleep mode? When the top button is pushed?
