Hi,

I was wondering if it is yet possible to jail breakl the 2.2 software on the :apple: iPod Touch 8GB. I have the 2.1 software jailbroken with QuickPWN and want to jailbreak it without loosing any apps, I understand that can't be done. Is it possible to backup the jailbroken apps as well?

Thanks,

Matt

not sure on the backing up part but I can tell you its too early for a new release of quickpwn and yes you will loose everything on you iPod as you have to have a clean 2.2 when the jailbreak is released

Any idea of WHEN the QuickPwn will come? Within the next few days/weeks/months?

there's an app in cydia that helps you "remember" what apps you are using, and helps you re-download later.
When you update the FW via iTunes it looks like you don't cancel everything in the iPod so you don't really lose anything

2.2 JB should be out after this weekend. The beta was JB'en so it is just a matter of time. Be patient. If any thing read the normal sites and see if there are any bugs before you update.

I usually wait about a week. After the dust has settled.

Do you know what it is called? I can't seem to find it.

THIS IS THE END OF JAILBREAKING FOREVER! APPLE HAS WON!

2.2 IS UNBREAKABLE!! EVERYBODY JUST BETTER GET USED TO IT!

Sorry... I really thought it was funny how many said this about 2.1... can't help but rub it in again that the rest of us were right.

Carry on!

Read the thread...they already have done the BETA! Just waiting for the final one to be done?

seems to be aptbackup, just googled it, look for some info about it and reviews/ whatever, I haven't used it as I'm back to the original FW

Thanks

Do you know what program the 2.2 JailBreak will use? Will it use QuickPWN? That is my favourite!

Another way to keep your apps is SSH into your phone (I like Cyberduck - http://tr.im/1eet for OS X) navigate to / then to applications, and there you can find your jailbroken apps along with non-jailbroken apps which you can then download. Once you update the phone, you just put the apps right back in that same folder. If you don't know how to SSH, just follow the tutorial at http://tr.im/1eeo

I hope Apple finds a way to permanently end these jailbreaks... I'm kinda annoyed when ppl say the iPhone battery sucks when they run backgrounder. Same with emulators.

Errm... Most people don't complain?

Who has used the 2.2 JailBreak sucessfully?

I used quickpwn cydia is on the crashy side and the keyboard within cydia is tempramental and prone to freezing but quickpwn works fine I am syncing all my iTunes stuff now and already installed winterboard, bossprefs and pockettouch

be careful on doing that! I dont want to do it on my own unit. hahaha
May be if i have found one here posted that is OK.. or my be an official release for MAC. :)

jailbreak 2.2
