jailbreak 4.2.1 with redsn0w 0.9.6rc16

Hi, on my mac i have redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 which i used to jailbreak my iphone 4 on 4.3.1. a friend asked me to do hers but i was wondering if i could use the redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 that i used to jailbreak my 4.3.1 on her 4.2.1?

I ask this because when i jailbroke when i was on 4.2.1 i think i used something different.

I used green poison when i jail broke my iphone on 4.2.1 but with this iphone green poison won't work on it when running the program on windows or mac. it just says try again.

could i use the redsnow i mentioned earlier??

Greenpoison rc6 for 4.2.1 is what I use
