Jailbreak 7.1.2, iTunes DFU restore of 7.1.2 necessary?

I just bough a used iPhone 5S with 7.1.2. I will be carrying zero new content onto the new device.

Is it necessary to do a iTunes DFU restore to 7.1.2 before jailbreak or can I do the Reset Content & Settings on the iPhone and be good to go?

I assume the phone was updated to iOS 7.1.2 via OTA when it first came out and I thought I read that it was better to do a DFU restore of 7.1.2.

I think they are. If I do the restore with the ipsw in iTunes and they are not signing 7.1.2, can I cancel or will I be forced into 8?

Should I DFU or click Restore in iTunes?

I just ended up doing the erase all content and settings and ran Pangu. Workin' fine.

i did dfu, it gets rid of the infamous 'other' storage.

check yours to see how much there is. with the same exact set up i have 4gb used when before i had 7gb used
