Hi all,

I would like to know if it's possible to enable the rSAP bluetooth profile if I were to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS?

I've just bought a VW Scirocco with the Bluetooth Telephone Preparation pack and am extremely disappointed that my iPhone won't work with it! The Scirocco's bluetooth telephone functionality can only be used with the rSAP profile.

Personally I think VW has dropped the ball here by choosing to go with rSAP instead of the far more popular HFP profile that almost every Bluetooth enabled phone supports.

Thanks!

Well, the are two or three versions of Bluetooth Telephone Preparation. Two of them support HPF, the third one supports only rSAP-phones. This is also mentioned in the car configurator.

Edit: There's a solution for you: From June 1st there's a new revision, Part number (from Germany) is 000 051 473 F. The new revision can handle rSAP and HPF. Price here in Germany: 349 €.

Thanks for your reply. I will visit my dealer after the 1st of June and enquire about this part.

Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I can see from trawling through Google only a handful of Nokia phones are able to use rSAP. I'm going to use this point to argue that I have should have the part for free - considering my car will be less than 2 months old after the 1st of June.

I recognise though that ultimately the fault rests with me for assuming that a bluetooth car kit would work with a bluetooth phone - but I'm going to try and get the part for free anyway!

Thanks again.

deadcantdance,

I tried to purchase this part from my local in VW Dealer in Cardiff today. The parts advisor was unable to find it so I sent him the following link to help him out:

This is what he replied back to me:

Hello David

I have just got off the phone with my technical dept. this control unit for the bluetooth kit is a spanish part.
as it is not included in the U.K. parts market, unfortunatly i would not be able to supply one.
your best bet is to try the web or see if a spanish dealer would supply and post you one.
thats about the best i can advise on this part im affraid.

Is he correct? I thought it was coming from Germany.

If he is correct, are you able to advise me on where I could get this part from please?

Thanks
