How long does it usually take for untethered jailbreaks to hit the net? I just got a ipad 1 and jailbreaked it last night. DAMN! so much stuff you can do that I did not know what was possible. But i certainly want the upgrades of iOS 4.3 too.

Depends. The 4.2.1 untether took a long time. Though that does not mean they won't figure the 4.3 thing out quicker. More than likely within a week there will be a tethered one.

There's already a tethered one. Untethered could take a day, could take a month.

Untethered 4.2.1 took just under 3 months. I wouldn't expect an untethered 4.3 jb anytime soon, it seems to be getting harder & harder.

...

there is a post on the dev team blog saying that in the 4.3 betas someone has already got a untethered kernel hack so it should actually be fast as long as apple doesn't close it in the final version
