Jailbreak for son?

We are going to give our 10 yr old son my wife's old 2.5 g iphone. He really doesn't need a full on ATT subscription for the phone component. But we thought it would be good to have a pay as you go plan for him.

He wants the phone mostly for the ipod function and wifi surfing the web.

Any suggestions or thoughts on this appreciated...

I want to use a pay as you go for my gen1 iphone.
