Jailbreak gone bad.

My 16GB 3GS was 3.2.1 on it and I decided it was time to jailbreak.

I launched Redsn0w, selected the iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw and checked the iPad baseband went into DFU mode and it appeared to Jailbreak but now it just freezes on the Apple logo.

What did I do wrong? How can I fix this?
 
Just checking to make sure you do it correctly;

1. Did you download Ipad IOS 3.2.2 to your machine?

If you don't have this firmware in your machine and you are trying to install ipad baseband, redsn0w can't find it and that the reason it freezes.

make sure it is on your machine and re-run it and please use latest redsn0w so you have the untethered jailbreak.

I think your phone has to be on the firmware that you are selecting with redsn0w. So you would have to be on 4.2.1 on your phone first. You just jammed a 4.2 kernal into your 3.2 software. You need to restore to 4.2 first, i assume you have blobs?

If you're on 3.2.1.. how come you used the 4.2.1 IPSW to jailbreak? You need the correct ipsw for the firmware you're running. Also, were you planning on unlocking? If so, you need to use Pwnage to create a custom IPSW with the iPad baseband first, then unlock it with ultrasnow. If not, don't check the iPad baseband.

I believe OP has a typo in his post. There is no 3.2.1 firmware for either 3G or 3GS. It jumped from 3.1.3 to 4.0.

you need to find out whether you have shsh blob saved for your phone. If you do not, then the only firmware you can go up to is 4.3.1 which apple is signing right now.

What about the Tiny Umbrella's tss thing that dehory mentioned?
 
TS, just download 4.3.1 FW and use PwnageTool to preserve your BB. In a few days the cosmetic bar problems for ultrasn0w will go away if you need to unlock. Is way better to not have the iPad BB installed, you have a low BB and you should preserve it ;)

I don't want to mess it up worse, so please tell me exactly whAT I SHOULD DO.

I usually use redsn0w- I won't need that if I use pwnagetool?
What do they mean "tethered" jailbreak?

I made it to step 3 and hit a brick wall. It says: "Download the latest version of PwnageTool Bundle from msft.guy here. Extract the downloaded bundle to your desktop." I don't know where "here" is. I think there is supposed to be a link of some sort.

For Untethered iPhone:
Use PwnageTool here are the instructions for simple mode:
1)Download original 4.3.1 fw
2)Open PwnageTool (from blog.iphone-dev.org/)
3)Go simple mode
4)check 3gs model
5)Yes/No depending on what they ask for activation
6)Do the DFU procedure when asked
7)open itunes and restore w/ option + mouse click and select the new custom FW (not the orig please)
8)enjoy jb

In it they also have the original fw and pwnagetool links to download directly

You want pwnagetool to preserve your BB for unlocking, if you don't care for unlocking then just upgrade to original 4.3.1 then run redsn0w instead of PwnageTool (you will lose your older BB thought)
