Hi guys,

I'm new to jailbreaking iPhones (have dealt with iPod Touch and iPads before), so I'm unsure with what SHSH blobs, baseband etc. actually mean

I've just bought an iPhone 3GS from my friend. I'm able to put my own giffgaff SIM card in it, so I assume it's unlocked? Would it be possible for anyone to tell me the best way to go about jailbreaking my device untethered and making sure it remains unlocked?

Thanks :)

If you have jb idevices before then your half way there.

I used redsn0w 0.9.10b5 for an un tethered jb of my iPhone 4.

Their are lots of threads on macrumours and on alternative forums that explain about jail breaking.

You must do your homework before playing around with your 3gs.

Jailbreaking it and unlocking it are two different animals and you do need to learn about your baseband, as mucking this up with failed procedure can seriously affect your iPhone.

Jailbreaking will not lock your iPhone.

Doing the homework on this subject is half the fun and you will pick up tips as you go along.

Learn about rectifying possible issues so you don't panic if a hiccup arises.

Good luck.
